Parmais a city of aristocratic and cultural traditions, full of famous monuments, precious works of art and memories of its past as capital of the duchy bearing the same name. Parmadoesn’t seem like any of the beautiful cities of the same size that attract so many visitors to Italy: it has got significant witnesses from each important artistic period and civil institutions that attributed to it fame in Europe. During the sight-seeing you will see the Duomo in pure Roman style, then the Battistero, the most important and innovative monument of the medieval period in Italy. The tour will go on visiting the St. Giovanni Church, a baroque building with its cupola frescoed by the great painter Correggio. Then is scheduled the visit of the Palazzo della Pilotta, that was constructed in the 16th Century and nowadays contains the National Gallery with precious numerous works made by important Italian painters. Music holds a special place in the history of the city: Giuseppe Verdi was born in Roncole, a small town a few kilometres far from Parma. He spent many years of his life in the Province of Parma composing some of his most important works. Villa Sant’Agata can still be visited, where he spend the happiest years of his life.
