1st DAY Ferrara Sightseeing : We propose to you a sightseeing tour around the town centre including a visit to the Este’s Castle, the Cathedral, the Jewish Ghetto and the medieval core of the city. For groups, that come in Ferrara with their own bus, we suggest an additional tour by bus around the city walls and to the Palazzo Diamanti. Alternatively, is possible to do an additional walk to the Palazzo Diamanti along the main Renaissance roads of the city. Stop lunch for typical meal and ending the tour transfer to Comacchio for reservation hotel and dinner.
2nd Day excursion will go on with reaching the Goro/Gorino Harbour for the boat trip. The natural itinerary will let you know, thanks to the assistance of a specialised guide, the secrets of the River Po and the surrounding valleys (Valle Bertuzzi, Valle Nuova and Val Canton). At the end of the trip you will reach the River’s mouth in the Sacca di Goro, a typical fish-man village famous for being an important mussels and clams fishpond, where you might meet the fisher and see them at work. The return is after two hours to the Goro Harbour. This sightseeing will be useful for precious pictures and birdwatching. Coming back in harbour transfer to Castello della Mesola the last Este’s Delizia, which were summer residences and places given over to the recreation of the Dukes of Ferrara. This Castel was built by Alfonso II Este as the centre of a huge estate, that the Este Family dedicated to their preferred Hobby: the hunting. To tell the true, the fact that the building was surrounded by walls and towers -whose the only remaining is the Abate one- let us think that it was a properly fortress for a boundary area. Nowadays it has been done up and given over to the public service: the castle is the seat of the communal library and of the State archives, the Civic Gallery and the Ambient EducationalCentre. After, coming back to Comacchio, free lunch and timetable to join the International Tourism Birdwatching Fear. Back to hotel and dinner.
3rd day Visit the city of Ravenna with its outstanding monuments, beautiful buildings and its peaceful, verdant urban scenario! Since the age of August the city had been an important naval base, but it was under the splendid kingdom of Theodoric (494-526A.D.) that it flourished as the foremost European city of the Eastern Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire. In the morning you will be round the city with a guide. The tour will start from the Church of St.Apollinare Nuovo, famous for its cylindrical bell tower, and then it will go on with the visit of the Neoniano Baptistery, also known as Orthodox Baptistery and particularly interesting for the fine marble inlays, mosaics and stuccos, that decorate its arcade. Then you will visit the Arian Baptistery and, if required, it is possible to go to the St.FrancescoChurch, near whom there’s the great poet Dante’s Tomb. Ending the sightseeing Lunch in a local restaurant tasting traditional dishes. Coming back to Comacchio and timetable in disposition. Back to hotel and dinner.
4 th day departure to theArgenta OasisDeltaPark 6th area. Here starts the bike excursion: you will visit the Oasis of Campotto, one of the most important wetland ecosystem in Europe. The Oasis covers approximately 1600 hectares of land and here you can find a range of animals and plants thriving and reproducing in a unique environment of utmost scientific and cultural interest.During the tour is scheduled a break for the lunch. Return back to hotel and dinner
5 th day Departure The only way to sightseeing this peculiar city made up of 118 tiny islands separated by canals is exploring it on foot with an expert local tourist guide, because walking on its 400 footbridges and through its narrow streets as well as alleys can give you the idea of being in a sort of labyrinth. During the tour you will reach the worldwide famous St. Mark Square, the centre of the Venetian life and point of arrival of the several coloured Carnival parades. The square is surrounded on three sides by shops and cafes and on the fourth one stands the St. Mark Cathedral, that is flanked by the Doge’s Palace. Transfer in the Venice lagoon, joining the Burano Island, very famous for the particular colours of its fish men’s houses; the next halt will be in the Torcello Island for the visit of the Byzantine Basilica and then is scheduled a stop in Murano Island, that is worldwide famous for its creative handmade glasses manufactures. Arriving in Burano, short breack for lunch. Return back toVenice, transfer to Comacchio and join the hotel with special dinner of farewell.
